So here we are, the bit where I introduce myself and speak about my experience in the design industry. To be honest it’s something I prefer to leave to others to comment on ( check out LinkedIn) but I’ll give it a go seeing as you're here.
My name is Alex, and I’m a down to earth and dedicated designer with over 25 years of industry experience. Design educated I’ve spent more of my life designing than I haven’t. Often it feels like my brain works 24/7 so I’m happiest when I’m visually problem solving and creating solutions, and I guess this is what still drives me after all these years...
6 years ago made the decision to change how and who I worked for and set up a Northern type. My career path had allowed me to work for some great brands in the FMCG, BWS and the private label sectors and long the way I gained extensive knowledge in all aspects of the design process, graphical, technical and commercial. While this time was enjoyable eventually, I felt the need to step outside of other peoples studios and pursue a different path in search for more personally fulfilling projects.
To date I’ve been partnering with smaller brands and start-ups, sharing my knowledge, experience and creativity to help create brands that challenge for shelf space. A fair chunk of the 6 years has been dedicated to the no and low alcohol movement, which has evolved hugely - for the record I’m not an abstainer - but I recognise the benefits of moderation and choice. I also confess I have a soft spot for bottles (niche) so it's been a perfect match.
